An outdoor activity is the perfect way to get your team outdoors. Mountain treks are especially transformative – many people discover new strengths and resilience that lasts long after the trek.
I know I’m biased because, since 2008, I’ve spent a lot of time outdoors and in the mountains all over the UK and overseas, but I believe so much benefit can come from participating in outdoor activities and challenges. These benefits include:
- Improved physical and mental health
- Reconnecting with nature and appreciating the stunning scenery
- New experiences and environments
- Challenging yourself and pushing your limits
- A sense of achievement
- Greater confidence and self-esteem
- Camaraderie and fun with friends or team building amongst colleagues
As a mountain leader and strong advocate of the outdoors, I want to encourage more people to experience the benefits. I’ve seen how taking business teams out of their offices and on to mountain pathways can have a transformative effect on their personal and professional lives.
If you’re keen to try something different to your usual training away day, why not try one of the four options* below for team-building outdoor activities and challenges your staff will love:
Option 1 – Day hike open to all staff
This is an ‘away day’ for any member of staff to enjoy and benefit from. There are beautiful hikes to be found all over the UK, so I am confident that we can come up with a convenient and beneficial day’s hiking for your staff.
They will get to experience the outdoors, chat to colleagues, feel relaxed, see new places, improve their health and wellbeing, and hopefully feel refreshed and energised as a result!
Option 2 – Leadership or Team Building day in the mountains
Experience a day in the mountains, either specifically designed for Business Leaders and Managers or a more generic team-building day for all. This day will help participants to learn new skills in an unfamiliar environment, take them out of their comfort zone, develop their strategies and techniques, and improve communication and trust. It will also be great fun and leave everyone with a real sense of accomplishment.
Option 3 – Charity Challenge event
Want to do a companywide challenge that puts some good back into the world?
I can help your staff tackle challenges like the National Three Peaks, Yorkshire Three Peaks, Snowdon hike or Ben Nevis hike (as just a few examples) for a specific charity, a range of charities or, indeed, for my Climb Your Mountain charity. Not only would participants enjoy and benefit but raising money for good causes is always a great option.
Option 4 – Bespoke outdoor or mountain event
We can develop an event to suit your needs and objectives – whether that’s a group climb, an adventure trip with wild camping, a navigation & outdoor skills day or a more adventurous scrambling and ridges challenge. There are so many potential options
*Costs will depend on numbers, dates and type of activity or challenge.
